Writing & Speaking

I have been writing for as long as I have been making visual art. My creative non-fiction centers on the same topics as my art and teaching philosophy.

The development of emotional literacy and self-expression through creative practices fascinates me to no end.

I promote dialogue about these human facets with a special focus on storytelling through interactive talks and workshops.

Teaching Creativity

In this article published by Enki Magazine, Laurie reveals how holistic art education transforms learning; connecting process and product, strengthening sensory memory, and fostering critical reflection. Through vivid examples like plaster-casting “fossils” and classroom critiques, she shows how art experiences build resilient, open-minded, and curious learners, and why the artist spirit belongs at the heart of every curriculum.
